This project is located at Bingham Canyon Mine just outside of Salt Lake City and is owned by Kennecott, a subsidiary of the Rio Tinto company. The open pit mine at Bingham Canyon has been in operation since the early 1900’s and is the largest operating open pit in the world. At the base of this open pit Cementation has collared two portals and is driving an exploration ramp to another ore body and a dewatering tunnel to assist in extending the life and depth of the open pit. Both of these development projects are important with regard to the long term production of Bingham Canyon.
