About North Bay
Nestled between two beautiful lakes, North Bay is the hub of Ontario’s Near North. There are large shopping malls and an attractive downtown core with a cobblestone street, and an extensive variety of dining facilities to suit every taste. The North Bay Waterfront on the picturesque shores of Lake Nipissing is a great place to walk, inline skate, bike or jog, and features marina facilities. There are a large number of parks and playgrounds throughout the city, many featuring great sandy beaches.
Ski in the City. Laurentian Ski Hill in North Bay is the area’s only four season Outdoor Education Centre with multi-use recreation facilities. North Bay’s Capitol Centre houses a 1,000 seat theatre with fly tower and orchestra pit, and is suited to theatre, film, music, dance and public forums. Theatre programming features local, national and international talent, ranging from blue grass and ballet to opera and rock.
North Bay is also home to many private and public schools, and is the home of Nipissing University and Canadore College, both highly awarded, and regarded across the country for their academic standards and reputation. The cost of living in “The Bay”, as the locals call it, is low and the quality of life, high.
